Douglas Allen Photography

In 2000 Phase 2 acquired the negative archive (1960 - 1999) of Douglas Allen Photography of Bridgwater.

Douglas Allen Photography was a well known and respected business in Bridgwater, trading initially from High Street premises and since the mid 1960's from a specialised shop and studio location in St Johns Street.

The business undertook industrial and commercial photography in the South West both for National organisations and Government departments as well as local businesses, many of which are continuing to thrive today. Alongside the commercial work, there was a steady requirement for wedding photography at various locations in and around Bridgwater.

The negatives of photographs taken prior to 1960 are currently stored by the Blake Museum in Bridgwater, but at Phase 2 we are often asked if we have any pictures of locations, or weddings that were photographed in the years 1960 -1999. This is often difficult as there are no actual photographs on file, only negatives and a register that was kept of the jobs as they were undertaken.

In order to help locate photographs of potential interest, these registers have been transferred to a searchable on-line database. Simply enter a text string into the search box below to find matching entries in the job records.

Alternatively, you can choose to browse by date. Simple choose a year from the drop-down menu, to see a listing of all the work done in that year.

Please Note: These records have been scanned directly from the original registers, and are thus presented 'bugs and all'. There are character recognition errors and the dates may relate to when the job was entered, rather than when the pictures were taken. We are gradually fixing the mistakes, but If you find any, please email us and let us know.
